  •  Guest Teacher – Ballet and Pointe ClassesSarah Wolff, a native of northern Michigan, studied classical piano and dance growing up before leaving home at the age of 13 to attend Canada’s National Ballet School. Upon graduating in 2006 she guested with Dutch National Ballet and then joined The National Ballet of Canada’s YOU (Youth, Outreach and Understanding Dance) dance apprentice program, the precursor to dancing as a member of NBOC through 2015. Proceeding her tenure with NBOC she spent a year based in NYC doing freelance and commercial work, which led to spending a season with BalletMet. Sarah has since pursued a freelance performance career alongside directing the ballet program for Company Dance Traverse  under the directorship of Betsy Carr & Sue Buck. She has guested with New York Dance Project, Grand Rapids Ballet, Fenton Ballet Theater and more and has performed lead roles with The National Ballet of Canada, Ballet Minnesota, BalletMet, and New York Dance Project in addition to commercial work in Toronto, MI, & NYC.  Sarah was awarded The Cecchetti Council of America Ballet Award, The NYCDA Ballet Scholarship, NBS’ Peter Dwyer Award of Excellence, and NBOC’s Patrons’ Council Award of Merit. She’s a passionate teacher, mentor and choreographer with original works placing first in YAGP & NYCDA competitions. Sarah has recently become a permanent faculty member of New York Dance Project as one of the rehearsal directors and continues to conduct private lessons, teach mindfulness, choreograph, and freelance   perform.


  • Guest Teacher – Contemporary Classes
    Alex Hlavaty,
    graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a minor in Creative Writing from Western Michigan University in May, 2015. He also studied in New York City with Gibney Dance and in Montréal with  O Vertigo and Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal before joining Eisenhower Dance Detroit. He is heading into his ninth season dancing with EDD where he has performed and taught master classes nationally and internationally. He has set excerpts of original EDD repertory on high school and university students at summer intensives, workshops, and master classes. Alex is also an avid choreographer and writer. His choreography has been performed in festivals, intensives, and competitions. His two most recent works were created on EDD’s professional company. He also has poetry published in the literary journal The Laureate, 14th Edition and has written for DancePlug online as a resource for dance students, professionals, and educators. He is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) – Junior, Senior, and Advanced programs, and strives to use PBT fundamentals to bring the best education to his students. Alex is excited to be joining College for Creative   Studies this Fall as a dance lecturer in choreography and creative movement.
